The Government will spend between three to four billion USD in investments on the Hambantota area if it were to win the bid to host the Commonwealth games in 2018. One million USD has already been spent on the bid that was presented to the Commonwealth Games committee in Kula Lumpur, Malaysia last month, according to Governor of the Central Bank Ajith N. Cabraal.
“There will be an investment of between three and four billion USD on the city, not all of this will be connected to the games it will be used for the city, port, sports stadiums and other basic infrastructure,” Cabraal said.
The government has obtained the services of foreign Public Relations Company PMP Legacy who will be contracted for the next six months. “A consultancy fee of 2.6 Million has already been paid to them,” he said. (Dianne Silva)
