Indicating developing signs of disruptions on the 2011 A/L answer script evaluation process, the academics have decided to refrain from submitting marking schemes for the answer scripts, the Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) said.
According to FUTA President Dr. Nirmal Ranjith Dewasiri the 2011 A/L evaluation process cannot be commenced without the marking schemes. “The marking schemes include guidelines which should be considered during the evaluation process,” Dr. Dewasiri explained speaking to Daily Mirror Online.
He said that the decision was taken at the executive committee meeting as a result of the snide comments made by Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena. “Minister Gunawardena has insulted the academics and has mocked our trade union demands,” he said while pointing out that the academics are demanding only what they are entitled for.
