FUTA has already prepared a negotiating team to discuss with the President in an event of positive response to our request for an appointment with the President to discuss the salary issue of academics.
FUTA has already taken a decision that members of sister unions of FUTA will not attend meetings with authorities in their individual capacity without the consent of the FUTA. When a decisive trade union action is underway it is to the best interests of members to abide by collective decisions. FUTA is the mandated body to represent the collective interests of the academic community of Sri Lanka. Under such circumstances, meeting President at this juncture outside FUTA involvement is extremely detrimental for our common cause. Please do not attend if invited.
